The current health care system is unsustainable and it costs too much. The Health Transformation Alliance’s goal is to improve the way corporations provide health care benefits in an effort to create better health care outcomes for their employees. By coming together to share expertise, the companies seek to make the current multilayered supply chain more efficient. We view it as A Better Way.

The Healthcare Private Equity Association (HCPEA) is a not-for-profit trade association whose mission is to support the reputation, knowledge, and relationships of the healthcare private equity community. As the first sector-focused trade association in private equity, HCPEA&#39;s 50+ member firms are among the best known, most respected private equity firms. The Association strives to promote a greater understanding of private equity&#39;s contribution to the healthcare economy by supporting initiatives that make healthcare an appealing industry for investment and promoting institutional/limited partner investment within the sector. We also provide professional development opportunities to our members as well as facilitate collaboration between our investment professionals and the larger healthcare community.

The last ten years have seen an explosion of health systems and health plan-based venture and innovation funds. The acceleration of digital adoption throughout COVID, the migration to new payment models, a rapidly consolidating competitive landscape, and sweeping uncertainties surrounding the “future state” of healthcare coverage have led many payers and providers to aggressively seek opportunities outside the core for growth. Ezra Mehlman, a healthcare growth equity investor and professor at Columbia Business School, will deliver a curriculum for hospital, health plan senior executives who are interested in standing up and operating strategic venture funds. In the course of the examination, he will: <ul><li>Evaluate the universe of options accessible to CEOs interested in launching such investment groups</li><li>Draw upon the best practices and perspectives of systems who have operated strategic venture funds–as well as hone in on the myriad pitfalls to avoid in standing one up</li><li>Conduct a deep dive of how strategic investing fits into the broader healthcare PE and VC landscape,</li><li>Review approaches towards valuing early-stage healthcare companies, term sheet basics, investment process and due diligence management, and how to be a good strategic customer-investor partner to your portfolio companies</li><li>Conclude with a live case study drawing upon the lessons from the curriculum</li></ul> The summit will feature a panel showcasing the perspectives of leading strategic VCs as well as venture-backed companies who have raised money from strategic funds, including: <ul><li>Sam Brasch, Managing Director, Convey Capital</li><li>Jeff Stolte, Senior Partner, Providence Ventures</li><li>Kulmeet Singh, CEO and Founder, Twistle</li><li>Jessica Zeaske, Partner at Echo Health Ventures</li></ul>
