TRIPP, Equa Health Partner to Offer Clinically-Backed VR Mindfulness Training

Wellness platform TRIPP has announced a pre-seed investment and partnership with Equa Health, a mindfulness training app spun out of Carnegie Mellon University

TRIPP uses immersive technology and psychedelic imagery to boost mental wellness while Equa Health has built a clinically validated and digitally integrated program that helps its users build mental resilience and mindfulness skills.

Equa’s training method was developed over 15 years of research at Carnegie Mellon University by Dr. David Creswell, a psychologist and global authority in the science of meditation, Julianna Raye.

Through the partnership, the pair will develop the extended reality (XR) platform's first clinically-backed experiences for mindfulness training, with three sessions focusing on the core mindfulness skills: concentration power, equanimity and sensory clarity.

The plan is to initially offer an intro series on TRIPP that will combine Equa Health's clinical research in mindfulness with TRIPP's experiential platform. Then, after gathering feedback from users, the pair will evaluate how to grow the series over time. The feedback will be translated to information into building clinical trials, looking at users' mental health over time and analyzing potential use cases.

The partners intend to apply for large grants in the future to target specific indications, but for now, the focus is on creating mindfulness experiences offered within the TRIPP applications stack.

In the last two years, TRIPP has raised a total of $26.3 million helping it in two major acquisitions. In 2021, TRIPP acquired PsyAssist, a startup that creates digital tools to aid patients undergoing psychedelic treatment, and VR meditation community EvolVR. In 2022, they announced the acquisition of the world-building platform Eden.
