Employer-focused Progyny acquires Berlin-based fertility benefits platform Apryl

Progyny, a publicly traded company focused on employer benefits related to family building, has acquired Berlin-based fertility benefits platform Apryl. This strategic acquisition expands Progyny's global footprint, enabling it to offer comprehensive family building benefits, including IVF, adoption, IUI, and surrogacy, to a wider audience. Both companies specialize in customizable employer benefits that address fertility and reproductive health needs.


Apryl provides a platform that allows employers to tailor their benefits packages to meet the specific needs of their employees. It offers services such as fertility guidance, reproductive technology, planning services, adoption, and surrogacy. Additionally, Apryl helps employees navigate local regulations and has a global database of clinics, enhancing its ability to deliver personalized and compliant fertility care.


The acquisition is seen as a significant step for Progyny in its mission to improve access to fertility and family building care globally. According to CEO Pete Anevski, this move will enable Progyny to collaborate with global employers, extending its services to over 100 countries and supporting patients in more than 225 languages. This expansion is expected to enhance the company's ability to deliver its benefits packages worldwide, addressing diverse cultural and regulatory environments.


In the broader context, Progyny has shown steady financial growth since going public in 2019. Its recent financial performance includes a 7.6% increase in revenue for the first quarter of 2024, totaling $278.1 million. The company's fertility-benefit services revenue grew by 8%, and its pharmacy benefit services saw a 7% increase compared to the previous year. Progyny reported a gross profit of $62.4 million and an adjusted EBITDA of $50.3 million in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting its robust business model and successful market expansion.
