Instacart Partners with WellTheory to Improve Autoimmune Care

WellTheory, the leading whole-person care platform for autoimmune disease, has announced a partnership with Instacart, North America’s leading grocery technology company, to address a critical gap in autoimmune care: access to nutritious, anti-inflammatory foods. The collaboration integrates Instacart Health Fresh Funds into WellTheory’s evidence-based care model, empowering members to purchase clinically recommended groceries that support healing and improve outcomes.

Autoimmune patients often struggle to access foods that promote healing due to challenges such as affordability, availability, and the difficulty of translating nutrition advice into everyday meal planning. This new partnership between WellTheory and Instacart seeks to close that gap, furthering WellTheory’s mission to deliver whole-person, root-cause care that goes beyond the limits of traditional healthcare. Through Instacart Health Fresh Funds, approximately 300,000 individuals in WellTheory’s network will receive grocery stipends redeemable for clinically recommended foods from their preferred local grocers. Instacart’s platform reaches over 98% of U.S. households—including 95% of those in food deserts and 98% of households enrolled in SNAP—ensuring broad, stigma-free access to nutritious foods and empowering patients to incorporate better nutrition into their daily routines.

“Nutrition is at the core of WellTheory’s mission to reverse the autoimmune epidemic, yet patients face real obstacles in translating clinical nutrition guidance into their daily lives,” said Claire Rudolph, Co-Founder and Head of Product at WellTheory. “Our partnership with Instacart removes these barriers, making it easier for our members to follow evidence-based dietary protocols and truly nourish their healing journeys.”

Unlike conventional care models that focus primarily on symptom management, WellTheory’s proprietary program targets the root causes of autoimmunity through nutrition, lifestyle changes, and ongoing one-on-one support from registered dietitians and board-certified health coaches. By integrating Instacart’s Fresh Funds platform, the initiative transforms nutritional guidance into actionable daily choices that improve symptom management, enhance quality of life, and lower healthcare costs. This collaboration builds on WellTheory’s proven success in improving autoimmune outcomes through its food-first approach, as highlighted in its latest impact report, and supports the company’s ongoing expansion through partnerships with leading employers and health plans such as Maven Clinic and Sentara to deliver scalable, virtual autoimmune care that meets patients wherever they are.
