Optima Health, a leading provider of technology-enabled corporate health and wellbeing solutions, has secured its first license contract for the proprietary Digital Assessment Routing Tool (DART) with Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Commissioned following a successful four-month quality improvement study with the Trust, DART supports safe and efficient care stratification for musculoskeletal conditions. The study demonstrated positive outcomes in patient safety, pathway efficiency, cost savings, and satisfaction among patients and clinicians, generating strong interest from other NHS musculoskeletal services and creating a new sales pipeline for Optima Health.
DART, a DTAC-certified and NHS Innovation Service-listed tool, serves as a digital first point of contact for self-referring musculoskeletal patients, offering an alternative to clinician-led triage. Taking an average of eight minutes to complete, it assesses patients and directs them to the appropriate care based on urgency and complexity, following the "Getting It Right First Time" principle for improved outcomes and efficiency.
Developed with significant investment from Optima Health and validated in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London, DART has been featured in international peer-reviewed journals.
Jonathan Thomas, CEO of Optima Health, stated: “We are excited to announce this first DART license. While the financial impact of this initial agreement is not material to the Group’s overall revenue and profits, it aligns with our growth strategy to expand into adjacent markets. The strong interest from other NHS trusts following the successful study supports our planned expansion into this new market, providing a promising sales pipeline for Optima Health.”
