Uber Health adds grocery, over-the-counter item delivery

Uber Health, the healthcare division of transportation company Uber, has recently announced the addition of grocery and over-the-counter product delivery to its range of services.

Through the Uber Eats platform, healthcare providers and payers can now have groceries and over-the-counter items conveniently delivered directly to patients' homes. This offering aims to simplify the entire patient journey, providing not only transportation to medical appointments but also access to essential groceries.

In April, Uber Health had already revealed the integration of same-day prescription delivery services into its platform in collaboration with ScriptDrop. Users were able to manage prescription deliveries from pharmacies within their service area and track the arrival of their medication.

Caitlin Donovan, the global head of Uber Health, explained the company's vision, stating, "I joined Uber because we have a unique opportunity to provide access to a wide range of supplemental benefits necessary for caring for patients beyond the confines of a clinic. This includes non-emergency medical transportation, same-day prescription delivery, and now grocery and over-the-counter product delivery. We have created a comprehensive solution for care coordinators, enabling physical access to care while also offering transparency in navigating the complexities of insurance benefit design."
