UC Davis Health, based in Sacramento, California, is introducing a new digital care program tailored for patients who have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), a minimally invasive procedure used to open blocked coronary arteries. The program leverages CliniiMobile Technology, equipping enrolled patients with a weight scale, blood pressure kit, and a 4G hub.
These devices facilitate the direct transmission of data to a clinical team, enabling real-time monitoring and intervention when necessary. Additionally, the program incorporates the UC-NOW text-messaging platform, allowing patients to continue receiving care post-hospitalisation.
Vimal Mishra, MD, the associate chief medical officer of UC Davis Health, emphasised the impact of the program's combination of automated text messaging and proactive monitoring on post-PCI patient care. This approach aims to offer a more personalised, digitally enabled, and responsive healthcare experience. Supported by the American College of Cardiology and the Rosenfeld Foundation, the program's objective is to monitor the data of 200 patients daily, ultimately striving to enhance health outcomes, improve patient-provider interactions, and potentially reduce hospital readmissions, according to a news release from UC Davis Health.
