Small, intimate and participant-led discussions tackling digital health challenges. Spaces are limited to 8 - 12 people, allowing you to focus on quality in-depth conversations.
Unlike other therapeutic areas, mental health evaluation and management can be a bit of an art, and at times relies on subjectivity in the outcomes analysis. However, digital tools could help improve this through the collection of consumer-generated physiological and behavioural measures. Mental health patients can be evaluated using digital biomarkers obtained from smartphones and sensors, such as phone usage, activity, text and voice characteristics.
How to use the data from everyday technologies and other specialised sensors to remotely and continuously measure individuals’ mental health? Join this session to discuss with your peers:
Clinical validation of digital biomarkers for mental health evaluation and management. What digital biomarkers have been clinically validated so far? How can we validate new ones, what are the standards, guidelines and regulatory considerations to follow?
What is real now and limitations of the current digital biomarkers in mental health. What are some real examples of digital biomarkers improving diagnosis, treatment and monitoring? What are the current limitations and challenges (e.g. bias, interpretability, data privacy, reliability, etc.)?
The use of digital biomarkers in therapy and treatment. How to use these biomarkers to personalise therapy? How can digital biomarkers be used to monitor the progress of therapy and treatment and adjust as needed?
Other challenges when using digital biomarkers in psychiatry and how to overcome them: data collection, data integration, interpretation, privacy, regulations, health equity, etc.)?
The future for digital biomarkers in mental health. How will these technologies change the diagnosis and management guidelines in mental health? What needs to happen so we start seeing these biomarkers as day to day tools for mental health professionals?
