Curbing the Cancer Trend

About this Session:

Young women are almost twice as likely to be diagnosed with cancer as young men. From breast cancer diagnoses in women in their twenties to colorectal cancer cases spiking in women under 40, this troubling trend can't be explained away by better detection alone, especially when you consider that women are historically more likely to seek preventive care than their male counterparts. The theories range from hormonal disruptions caused by environmental toxins to the long-term effects of processed foods, from delayed childbearing patterns to chronic stress levels that are uniquely impacting women's immune systems in ways we're only beginning to understand. What's particularly alarming is that these aren't just rare cancer types, we're talking about breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers that are traditionally associated with older populations, now appearing in women who should be in their healthiest decades. To get to the bottom of this troubling trend, we're welcoming the President of one of the world's top cancer centers to shed light on causes, treatments and innovations helping women navigate from a cancer diagnosis to lasting health.
