Prepping Clinicians to Manage Health Disparities through Med-Ed Innovation

About this Session:

The basic tenet of techquity--that health technology can either help to overcome or exacerbate health disparities, is not taught in medical school despite longstanding knowledge of the contributing factors and the ubiquity of technology in healthcare. These leaders are rethinking the possibilities and have found that even limited exposure to the topic of techquity has potential to influence change for both patients and physicians. A med-ed leader, family medicine physician and student will show how a techquity curriculum can help clinicians become aware of the value and potential pitfalls of technology-enabled healthcare, an important step toward equipping them to engineer more equitable care delivery and outcomes.
