The Culturally Competent Care Conversation

About this Session:

Disparities within our healthcare system continue to disadvantage individuals from certain socio-economic backgrounds, resulting in poor quality of care and limited access to culturally competent services. These are exacerbated by persistent systemic injustices, unaffordable care, and a prevailing lack of trust among marginalized communities. While there?s no magic fix, a crucial step involves identifying the existing gaps in our system. Understanding how to tailor a patient's needs especially in historically underserved communities through grassroot efforts that can help build a deeper connection. Leveraging technology to make sure we use innovation to our advantage to help bridge existing gaps. And give patients a seat at the table and empower them to use their voice to design policy. These are all ways that can help us improve our fragmented social care ecosystem. We need to do better, and now is the time.
