Direct Relief was named Time Magazine Dreamer of the Year in 2025 honoring their disaster response and sustained recovery efforts in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires. It celebrates organizations and individuals who protect, restore, and champion their communities in the face of adversity. For the past 60 years, Community Health Centers (CHCs) have grown to become our nation’s largest primary care system with a workforce of 330K in over 17K locations that now serve 52 million or 1 in 7, including 1 in 3 in rural America. Together, Direct Relief and the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) have worked together to support and build rural and urban communities across our country. With the case study of the Los Angeles wildfires, they will share their stories, shared mission and impact, and talk about their commitment together for the next 60 years as our nation continues to face challenges and opportunities, especially in rural, frontier, mountain, island, tribal, urban, and suburban communities.
