Alan, a French health insurer, is expanding its role by developing a healthcare super app. Recently, it introduced three new features: an AI health assistant named Mo, an online wellness shop, and a gamified step tracker.
Mo, an AI-driven chatbot, helps users with health questions. Doctors verify the AI responses within 15 minutes to address potential inaccuracies. With 900 successful test conversations, Alan plans to scale Mo for its 680,000 members, adding personalization to make it a proactive health companion.
Alan’s new wellness shop offers health products, including dietary supplements and baby items, focusing on high-quality French brands at special rates for members. Meanwhile, the Alan Walk feature promotes physical activity, rewarding users with virtual “berries” for meeting step goals, which can be exchanged for discounts, charity donations, or avatar customizations.
With a recent $193 million funding round raising its valuation to $4.5 billion, Alan is accelerating its growth in Europe and expanding into Canada, marking the first new health insurance entrant there in nearly 70 years.
