Amae Health and Google Health Enterprise Collaborate to Integrate Wearable Data into Mental Health Care

Amae Health has announced a collaboration with Google Health Enterprise to incorporate data from wearable devices into the care of individuals living with complex mental health conditions. The initiative is designed to provide clinicians with additional insight into patients’ health between appointments by integrating behavioral and physiological data into routine clinical workflows.

Through the partnership, information collected from the Google Health app and Fitbit devices—including sleep patterns, physical activity, heart-rate variability and changes in daily routines—will be made available to Amae’s multidisciplinary care teams. The company believes that combining these real-world behavioral signals with existing clinical information could enable earlier identification of changes in a patient’s condition, improve relapse prediction and support more continuous care.

Amae Health provides integrated treatment for people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and severe personality disorders, combining psychiatric services, therapy, primary care and physical health interventions. The addition of wearable-derived data is intended to strengthen this care model by providing clinicians with objective indicators that may precede clinical deterioration.

“Our partnership with Google Health Enterprise reflects a fundamental shift in how we understand and measure severe mental illness,” said Dr. Scott Fears, Chief Medical Officer at Amae Health. “By integrating wearable-derived behavioral signals into our care model, we are capturing measurable patterns of illness in real-world settings, including sleep and activity disruptions that often precede clinical decline.”

Amae is also developing a composite mental health score inspired by cardiac risk scoring models. The proposed framework would combine wearable-derived behavioral information with biomarkers, electroencephalogram data, voice analysis, medication response and other clinical inputs to support more comprehensive clinical assessment.

“Data is only as powerful as the care model behind it,” said Stas Sokolin, CEO and cofounder of Amae Health. “Bringing Google Health app and Fitbit data into Amae's multidisciplinary workflows will create a decision-support layer intended to turn wearable data into real-time clinical interventions.”

The collaboration reflects broader industry efforts to use artificial intelligence and passively collected health data to identify early signs of mental health deterioration, improve clinical decision-making and extend patient support beyond traditional healthcare settings.
