Amazon, the second-largest employer in the United States, has partnered with Maven Clinic to provide fertility and family planning services to eligible employees across 50 countries outside the U.S. and Canada. This collaboration gives Amazon employees and their partners access to Maven's comprehensive healthcare services, including experts in reproductive health, nutrition, and mental care.
Maven's focus on enhancing accessibility to reproductive healthcare is significant, particularly as only half of America's counties have access to an OB-GYN. The partnership follows similar collaborations with Microsoft, AT&T, Snap, SoFi, and L’Oreal. Amid ongoing challenges in U.S. reproductive healthcare, Maven's initiatives have gained traction. Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, Maven witnessed a 67% monthly increase in companies seeking healthcare and travel benefits for pregnant employees, reflecting a broader trend in adding reproductive health benefits post-decision.
This move responds to the increasing need for fertility benefits, applicable to both heterosexual and same-sex couples. With approximately 1 in 8 American couples struggling with conception and 79% of LGBTQ+ employees considering improved family planning benefits when evaluating job opportunities, offering these benefits can boost employee loyalty and make workplaces more equitable.
“There are many different options on this journey, so having a company-provided resource that helps you just in that journey is really something that is a global need,” said Amazon director of global benefits Lian Neeman.
