Cleveland Clinic and Khosla Ventures have announced a strategic partnership designed to accelerate the development, validation, and deployment of emerging healthcare technologies. The collaboration brings together Cleveland Clinic’s global reputation in clinical care and research with Khosla Ventures’ deep experience in venture investment and technology innovation.
Under the agreement, Khosla Ventures portfolio companies will gain direct access to Cleveland Clinic providers, enabling them to test, refine, and commercialize new solutions in a real-world healthcare setting. This structure aims to shorten the pathway from early-stage innovation to clinical and commercial adoption.
“Together we aim to accelerate transformational innovation, foster groundbreaking technologies, and ultimately improve patient outcomes,” said Geoff Vince, PhD, Chief of Cleveland Clinic Innovations.
The collaboration has already produced tangible results, with Cleveland Clinic entering customer and commercial agreements with several Khosla-backed companies. Additional opportunities are under evaluation for co-development, investment, and partnership. Both organizations also plan to co-incubate a new company, in which Khosla Ventures will oversee technical development and recruiting while Cleveland Clinic provides the clinical testing environment and scaling infrastructure.
The alliance will focus on four primary areas of healthcare transformation:
AI and Digital Health: Applying AI to streamline workflows, improve diagnostics, and personalize care.
Therapeutics and Diagnostics: Advancing next-generation solutions in cardiology, oncology, neurology, and musculoskeletal care.
Care Delivery Models: Developing scalable approaches such as home-based services and global second-opinion programs.
Value-Based Models: Creating strategies tailored for Medicare, Medicaid, and dual-eligible populations.
Cleveland Clinic Innovations (CCI), the health system’s commercialization arm, will support the partnership. Since 2000, CCI has launched over 100 spin-off companies, leveraging its expertise in intellectual property management, licensing, and startup incubation.
Through this alliance, Cleveland Clinic and Khosla Ventures aim to bridge clinical rigor with venture-driven innovation, expediting the translation of transformative technologies into accessible patient care solutions.
