Elsevier Health launches Generative AI clinical decision support tool

Elsevier Health has unveiled ClinicalKey AI, a pioneering clinical decision support tool, establishing itself as the foremost and advanced AI-driven system in the United States. The creation of ClinicalKey AI resulted from a collaborative effort between Elsevier Health and OpenEvidence, a significant player in AI for medicine, with contributions from Cone Health and the University of New Mexico during the developmental phase.

ClinicalKey AI signifies a transformative approach to clinical decision-making, integrating trusted medical content with the capabilities of AI. Notable features include a Natural Language Search, enabling clinicians to effortlessly access relevant information, and the incorporation of comprehensive data from Elsevier's peer-reviewed content library and other validated sources. The tool takes a personalised approach, considering patient-specific context by factoring in comorbidities and medications when generating responses. Additionally, it tailors responses based on the clinician's profile and past searches, enhancing the overall user experience.

Crucially, ClinicalKey AI is underpinned by a commitment to Responsible AI Principles and Privacy Principles. This ensures ethical and privacy considerations are at the forefront, aligning with the needs of the healthcare community. Following a successful early access launch in November 2023, ClinicalKey AI is now accessible across the United States, with plans for future international launches underway. This breakthrough marks a significant leap at the intersection of healthcare and artificial intelligence, offering a glimpse into the future of advanced medical decision support systems on a global scale.
