Everside Health, Marathon Health announce merger

Direct primary care provider Everside Health and employer health provider Marathon Health are merging to create a comprehensive primary care offering with a focus on a value-based care model. Everside Health collaborates with employers and unions to provide healthcare directly to their workers, bypassing traditional insurance intermediaries. The services include health centres and virtual care, covering primary care, chronic condition management, mental health services, urgent care, occupational health, and care coordination. Marathon Health, an employer-sponsored primary care company, delivers onsite care services and 24/7 virtual care along with care navigation resources and a comprehensive care team.

Under the Marathon Health brand, the merged entity plans to offer primary care, occupational health, mental health, pharmacy, and musculoskeletal services to its 630 clients. The combined organisation aims to reach 2.5 million patients across 680 health centres in 41 states, providing virtual services in all 50 states.

Marathon Health's CEO, Dr. Jeff Wells, and executive chairman, Ben Evans, will retain their current roles, while Everside Health's CEO, Chris Miller, will leave the company but remain a shareholder in the new entity. The merger is expected to be completed within the next 12 months, with support from existing shareholders General Atlantic, New Enterprise Associates, and Oak HC/FT.

Everside Health, previously Paladina Health, has undergone significant developments, including acquisitions and growth equity funding. Marathon Health, which previously merged with OurHealth, expanded its value-based care population health management footprint with the acquisition of Cerner Workforce Health Solutions in 2021.
