Freed Raises $30M to Combat Clinician Burnout with AI-Powered Documentation

Freed, a provider of AI-powered clinical documentation solutions, has raised $30 million in a Series A funding round led by Sequoia Capital, bringing its total funding to $34 million and solidifying its position as one of the fastest-growing health tech companies in the U.S. Clinician burnout is a major issue in healthcare, with providers spending an average of 19 hours per week on paperwork. Freed’s AI platform addresses this by automating documentation and streamlining workflows, helping clinicians save an average of two hours per day.

The company’s flagship AI scribe captures and transcribes patient encounters in real time, generating comprehensive medical notes. In addition, Freed is expanding its AI capabilities with specialty-specific notes, a custom template builder for personalized documentation, AI-generated patient summaries and follow-ups, and seamless EHR integration via a browser extension. Since its 2023 launch, Freed has gained over 17,000 paying customers across 96 specialties, saving clinicians more than 2.5 million hours in documentation time and achieving 4x year-over-year revenue growth.

Co-founder and CEO Erez Druk, inspired by his wife, a family physician, emphasized Freed’s mission to support clinicians: “My wife and her fellow clinicians dedicate their careers to caring for others, and they deserve to have a company that dedicates itself to caring for them. They deserve to live balanced lives that allow them to recharge.”
