GE HealthCare has expanded its Vivid cardiovascular ultrasound portfolio with three new systems—Vivid Explorer, Vivid Advanced and Vivid Focus—designed to bring advanced cardiac imaging capabilities to a wider range of clinical environments. The new systems join the company's ultra-premium Vivid Pioneer and portable Vivid iq, creating a broader family of ultrasound solutions spanning high-volume echocardiography labs, hospitals, cardiology practices and interventional settings.
Each system is tailored to different imaging requirements. Vivid Explorer targets high-volume echo labs and routine interventional procedures, supporting advanced 4D, multi-plane and 2D imaging across transthoracic, transesophageal and intracardiac echocardiography. Vivid Advanced is designed for mid-sized hospitals and cardiology practices requiring comprehensive cardiac imaging alongside vascular, abdominal and soft-tissue exams, while Vivid Focus brings advanced cardiac imaging capabilities to more routine clinical environments.
All three systems are built on GE HealthCare's cSound software-based imaging architecture, providing a common technology foundation across the Vivid portfolio. The platform uses advanced processing to optimize image contrast, resolution and tissue visualization while creating a consistent experience across different systems. This common architecture is intended to make it easier for clinicians to move between care environments without having to adapt to substantially different imaging workflows.
The new systems also incorporate AI-enabled automation tools designed to reduce repetitive tasks during cardiac examinations. Capabilities include automated measurements, ejection fraction assessment, left ventricular functional analysis and cardiac Doppler measurements. GE HealthCare says these tools can help simplify examinations, improve consistency between users and reduce the number of manual steps required during routine echocardiography workflows.
GE HealthCare is also extending the updated capabilities into EchoPAC Software Only v211, its cardiovascular analysis and reporting platform. Clinicians can use EchoPAC to review, quantify and report cardiovascular studies either on-site or remotely, providing consistent tools across image acquisition, analysis and reporting. The three new Vivid systems and EchoPAC v211 have received CE Mark, while U.S. FDA 510(k) clearance remains pending.
