GE, LG, Microsoft team up for smart hospital project in Korea

In a collaborative effort, Microsoft, GE HealthCare, and LG Electronics have forged a strategic partnership aimed at propelling the construction of smart hospitals in South Korea. Their joint initiative is underpinned by a memorandum of understanding, laying the groundwork for the integration of their distinct areas of expertise.

Microsoft Korea will spearhead the development of a robust digital platform, leveraging AI algorithm models such as Azure OpenAI and communication tools like Microsoft Teams to facilitate seamless healthcare operations. GE HealthCare, on the other hand, will contribute its extensive portfolio of digital medical solutions, encompassing medical equipment, command centres, and innovative digital twin technology. Complementing this, LG Electronics will provide cutting-edge smart hospital technologies, including smart monitors, medical robots, displays, and communication networks.

Beyond the physical infrastructure, the partnership is committed to fostering innovation in next-generation medical equipment and AI-driven solutions, alongside accelerating the digitization of healthcare workflows. Emphasising the significance of their endeavour, the trio envisions a paradigm shift in hospital management, characterised by interconnected data streams spanning patient registration, imaging, diagnosis, and post-monitoring. This holistic approach aims to optimise medical staff workflows and elevate patient outcomes by harnessing the power of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
