HeartFocus, an AI-driven heart echo software by medtech firm DESKi, launched the HeartFocus Education app in partnership with Butterfly Network, a digital ultrasound company.
The app aims to help healthcare practitioners master 10 essential cardiac views quickly and accurately through personalized, AI-powered learning. It’s available for healthcare professionals, medical schools, and clinics using Butterfly iQ3 and iQ+ probes with iOS iPads. For a limited time, users can register on DESKi's portal to access a free six-month license, available in the U.S. and 22 other countries.
Bertrand Moal, CEO of DESKi, called the app a new "AI-powered stethoscope" for practitioners, enabling simple mastery of life-saving heart scans. Butterfly Network’s Chief Strategy Officer, Darius Shahida, added that the partnership aims to democratize cardiac care, empowering more practitioners with on-the-spot diagnostics.
Industry Context
HeartFocus joined Butterfly’s AI marketplace, Butterfly Garden, in June, integrating its AI software with Butterfly’s hand held ultrasound technology. Butterfly Network recently reported $21.5 million in Q2 2024 revenue, marking a 16% year-over-year growth and 45% reduction in net losses.
Additionally, Butterfly Network gained EU MDR certification for the Butterfly IQ+ system, expanding its European market presence. Other initiatives include an ongoing collaboration with Forest Neurotech to develop a whole-brain interface using Butterfly’s Ultrasound-on-Chip technology, with the five-year agreement valued at $20 million.
