Hinge Health to Acquire Cylinder Health to Expand into Integrated GI Care

Hinge Health has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire virtual digestive care provider Cylinder Health for $105 million in cash, marking a significant expansion of its virtual care portfolio beyond musculoskeletal (MSK) and migraine services. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

The acquisition reflects growing demand from self-insured employers and health plans for integrated healthcare platforms that reduce the number of point solutions and simplify care management. Hinge Health intends to incorporate Cylinder Health’s clinical model into its AI-powered technology platform, creating a single application that combines MSK, pelvic health, migraine, and gastrointestinal care. The unified platform is expected to launch in 2027.

Gastrointestinal conditions affect approximately one in four adults in the United States and account for an estimated $135 billion in annual healthcare expenditure. Access to specialist care remains limited, with 69% of U.S. counties lacking a practicing gastroenterologist. As a result, many patients rely on repeated visits to primary care, urgent care, or emergency departments without receiving coordinated long-term management.

Cylinder Health brings an established commercial presence to the transaction, serving nearly 100 enterprise clients and approximately two million covered lives. The company also maintains distribution partnerships with two of the three largest pharmacy benefit managers and commercial relationships with three of the five largest health plans by self-insured market share.

The companies also point to the clinical relationship between chronic gastrointestinal disorders and chronic pain conditions, including shared physiological mechanisms such as gut-brain axis interactions and central sensitization. Hinge Health expects this overlap to support coordinated care across multiple conditions within a single platform.

Financially, the acquisition is projected to contribute between $7 million and $8 million in revenue during 2026, with additional growth anticipated in 2027 through broader cross-selling opportunities across the combined customer base.

“We’re entering GI care because of member and client demand,” said Daniel Perez, co-founder and CEO of Hinge Health. “Many people we already serve for back, joint, pelvic, and migraine care also have chronic digestive conditions. After spending time with Terry Boch and the Cylinder team, it’s clear that Cylinder gives us a running start in a category with significant unmet need.”
