Inovalon and AWS collaborate on healthcare AI/ML solutions

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Inovalon have joined forces to develop AI and machine learning solutions for healthcare organisations. 

These solutions, part of the Inovalon ONE Platform, initially target risk adjustment by improving risk score accuracy for health plans. They address the challenge of disconnects between medical documentation and claims data, leading to inaccuracies in patient disease status, care needs, and payments. 

The collaborative NLP/ML application leverages AWS's Comprehend Medical service to extract insights from unstructured clinical text, identifying likely discrepancies and highlighting supporting evidence. This enhances risk score accuracy, claim review efficiency, and cost reduction. 

The application is expected to be available in early 2024. Eron Kelly, President of Inovalon, emphasised their commitment to enhancing healthcare outcomes through AI and ML, marking the first of several collaborations with AWS.
