Mental health startup UpLift has successfully acquired Minded, a digital psychiatry platform with a focus on women's mental health. This move expands UpLift's women-led offerings and extends its reach to five additional states.
UpLift's behavioural health platform facilitates access to in-network therapists and mental health providers virtually or in person. The recent acquisition allows residents of California, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New York, and Texas to access UpLift's expanded platform, which now includes team-based therapy and psychiatric care.
Before the acquisition, UpLift operated in Maryland, Virginia, Florida, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C. The CEO, Kyle Talcott, expressed excitement about reaching more people and accelerating national expansion through the acquisition.
In terms of funding, UpLift secured $1 million in 2019, followed by $8 million two years later. In the current year, the platform raised $10.7 million in Series A funding. Minded, focusing on women's mental health, had previously announced $25 million in seed funding.
The demand for mental health services is underscored by the 2022 KFF Women’s Health Survey, revealing that 50% of women expressed the need for mental health services in the past two years, compared to 35% of men.
This trend aligns with the broader effort in the mental health sector to enhance access. Other companies, like Headspace and Caraway, are also contributing to improving mental, physical, and reproductive healthcare access. Together, these initiatives reflect a growing commitment to addressing diverse mental health needs across demographics.
