OSF to create virtual reality platform

OSF HealthCare, located in Peoria, Illinois, is pioneering a virtual reality solution to address the pressing issue of opioid overdose fatalities.

Referred to as the Virtual Reality Embedded Naloxone Training, this innovative platform employs augmented reality techniques to offer comprehensive training in naloxone administration. The platform's design revolves around merging the physical and virtual realms, as explained in an OSF press release dated August 14th.

Scott Barrows, the Director of the OSF Innovation Design Lab, elaborated on the approach, stating that the training amalgamates tangible elements like the naloxone spray device and a manikin. This amalgamation enables individuals to practice administering the spray on a manikin while also engaging with a valuable virtual environment.
