Sleep Cycle introduces a new coughing tool with proprietary AI for unique sleep cough analysis

Sleep Cycle, a global leader in AI-driven sleep analysis, has introduced a new feature called Coughing within its existing Cough Radar tool. Cough Radar, launched in late 2023, displays an interactive map indicating local coughing activity. With the new Coughing tool, users can now compare their coughing to that of their surroundings and track it over time for potential insights into trends or illnesses. All data is kept private on users' devices and remains anonymous and aggregated when used for Cough Radar, interpreted by machine learning algorithms.

Mikael Kågebäck, Sleep Cycle's Chief Technology Officer, explained that the company leverages anonymous statistics from its large user base to power its machine learning algorithms, enabling the creation of the Cough Radar map. This unique capability allows users to understand coughing patterns in their surroundings, aiding informed decisions about being in crowded places like workplaces.

Sleep Cycle's Cough Radar and Coughing tools utilise sound analysis data, machine learning, and geolocation to compile real-time statistics on nighttime cough occurrences. Participation is voluntary, contributing to a dynamic representation of cough activity across different regions.

Sleep Cycle has long been helping users improve their sleep by aiding in falling asleep, tracking sleep patterns, and providing insights for enhancing sleep quality. It serves as a significant source for sleep statistics globally, contributing to sleep research and reporting efforts.
