Snke Unveils SnkeXR Medical AR Glasses For Healthcare

Snke OS GmbH announced plans to unveil SnkeXR, a new pair of medical-grade augmented reality glasses designed to accelerate the adoption of AR technology in clinical workflows. The glasses are built to support product development, research, and a variety of medical disciplines, including neurosurgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, spine surgery, interventional radiology, and electrophysiology. They can also be used for procedure planning, clinical training, and remote assistance.

SnkeXR features a built-in surgical tracker with 0.3mm accuracy, a medical-grade design, and a depth camera capable of scanning surface anatomy or organs at 30 frames per second. The device includes an integrated headlight, stereoscopic magnification up to 3.5x for precision work, a detachable six-hour battery, and adjustable display settings such as transparency and projection angle.

Nissan Elimelech, general manager of Snke XR and former founder and CEO of Augmedics, said that while consumer AR glasses have limitations in clinical use, SnkeXR “fills this gap with a medical-grade, open platform design” that allows integration into various medical devices.

Elimelech previously revealed plans for SnkeXR in MobiHealthNews’ Emerging Technologies series, describing it as the first AR glasses specifically built for healthcare. He explained that many medical device companies still rely on outdated AR systems, prompting the creation of SnkeXR as an open platform that can be customized by developers. The company already has a working prototype, and the product is expected to officially launch in mid-2027.
