Teladoc Health Expands Preventative Care Capabilities with $65M Catapult Health Acquisition

Teladoc Health, the New York-based virtual care leader, has announced its acquisition of Catapult Health in a deal valued at $65 million, with an additional $5 million in potential earnout considerations based on post-acquisition performance metrics.

The acquisition brings Catapult Health's VirtualCheckup platform under Teladoc's umbrella, expanding their capabilities in preventative care delivery. VirtualCheckup, which serves employers and health plans, combines at-home diagnostic testing with virtual healthcare provider visits. The platform includes comprehensive mental health screening for depression and anxiety, delivering detailed reporting and recommendations for both individual and population health improvement.

Chuck Divita, CEO of Teladoc Health, shared his perspective on LinkedIn: "This is an exciting time for both companies. Catapult Health is a natural and valuable complement to our business and shares our vision to make great healthcare more accessible. I look forward to seeing the impact of our work together."

The strategic move aligns with Teladoc's integrated care segment strategy, focusing on membership growth, international expansion, and enhanced mental health services. Upon deal closure, expected in Q1 2025, Catapult Health will operate as a Teladoc subsidiary.

Financial context surrounding the acquisition reveals Catapult Health's revenue of approximately $30 million over the twelve months preceding Q3 2024. Teladoc's Q3 2024 performance showed total revenue of $640.5 million, with their Integrated Care segment generating $383.7 million, up 2% year-over-year. The company reported a net loss of $33.3 million and adjusted EBITDA of $83.3 million for the quarter.

The acquisition represents a strategic enhancement of Teladoc's preventative care capabilities while strengthening its position in the virtual healthcare market. The integration of Catapult's services is expected to contribute to Teladoc's mission of expanding healthcare accessibility through virtual solutions.
