UNC Health, based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, has developed an AI-powered internal chatbot using Microsoft's Azure OpenAI Service.
The chatbot aims to enhance administrative efficiency and patient-focused care by providing real-time recommendations and directions specific to UNC Health. It will assist with various administrative tasks, such as accessing reference materials and documents through interactive "how-to" documents.
The deployment of this technology intends to enable UNC Health staff to dedicate more time to patient care.
The chatbot operates within a secure and governed internal environment, and UNC Health is also collaborating with Epic Systems and Microsoft to utilise generative AI in helping physicians respond to patient inquiries through online portals.
