WellTheory, a virtual care provider specializing in autoimmune diseases, has raised $14 million in Series A funding, bringing its total financing to $26.2 million. The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from 7wire Ventures, Box Group, Ingeborg Investments, Up2 Opportunity Fund, and Accel.
Founded in 2022, WellTheory offers virtual care teams for individuals living with autoimmune conditions such as lupus, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, celiac disease, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, and Graves’ disease. The newly secured funds will support commercial expansion, the growth of employer and payer partnerships, and the continued advancement of its AI technology.
Ellen Rudolph, CEO and cofounder of WellTheory, said the company’s mission is rooted in her own experience with autoimmune disease. “As someone who’s lived with autoimmune disease, I know how broken and impersonal the system can feel. We’re using AI to change that — not to replace care, but to deepen it. By combining technology with empathy, we’re making it possible to deliver personalized, root-cause care to millions who’ve spent too long feeling unseen,” she told MobiHealthNews.
In recent months, WellTheory has been building strategic partnerships and expanding its platform capabilities. In June 2025, the company announced its first payer partnership with Sentara Health, enabling nearly one million Sentara Health Plans members in Virginia and Florida to access 12 months of dedicated autoimmune care.
Earlier in the year, WellTheory raised an additional $5 million and introduced two digital tools: Care Scribe, an AI assistant that helps clinical teams transcribe consultations and develop tailored care plans, and Care Hub, a data platform that integrates lab results, session histories, and compliance tracking.
In December 2024, WellTheory launched a women’s health program targeting hormonal conditions including endometriosis, menopause, and PCOS. Its first employer partnership, formed in 2023 with Maven Clinic, provides Maven employees with access to nutrition and lifestyle coaching through WellTheory’s platform.
Since its $7.2 million seed round in 2022, WellTheory has positioned itself as a growing player in AI-enabled chronic care, aiming to make autoimmune management more accessible, data-driven, and empathetic.
