West Cancer Center Begins Holographic Oncology Visits

West Cancer Center and Proto Hologram have officially started offering holographic consultations for oncology patients, leveraging AI-powered technology to reach rural communities. The 3D imaging system allows specialists based at West Cancer’s Germantown, Tennessee headquarters to virtually interact with patients within a 150-mile radius.

Sylvia Richey, West Cancer Center’s chief medical officer, explained that the system saves patients the burden of long-distance travel, offering a nearly in-person experience. Patients, she noted, have responded positively, praising the clear image, audio, and interaction made possible through Proto's technology.

Proto Hologram, certified under SOC2 standards, ensures secure data transmission, crucial for protecting patient privacy. Additional applications are being considered, including immersive training. This follows a similar expansion of hologram use at Crescent Regional Hospital in May, which integrated mini hologram displays across its facility.
