Wisdom Ventures Raises $77.7M Fund II with Backing from Reid Hoffman and Dr. Vivek Murthy

Wisdom Ventures has announced the close of its $77.7 million Fund II, marking a substantial increase from its $10 million inaugural fund. The new fund is supported by prominent technology leaders, including Reid Hoffman, Evan Sharp, and Stewart Butterfield, alongside the addition of former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy as Senior Venture Partner.

The firm focuses on investing in startups developing AI-native solutions aimed at improving mental and physical health, resilience, and human connection. Fund II will deploy investments ranging from $1 million to $5 million across approximately 40 early-stage companies aligned with these objectives.

Wisdom Ventures is led by General Partners Bradley Horowitz, Cecily Mak, and Soren Gordhamer, combining experience in technology product development with a focus on mindfulness and wellbeing. The firm’s operating model emphasizes “whole-founder” support, integrating traditional venture capital funding with practices such as meditation and community engagement.

Dr. Murthy highlighted the importance of aligning technological innovation with public health priorities, particularly as AI continues to influence daily life and societal structures. The fund’s strategy reflects a broader shift within venture capital toward evaluating the societal and psychological impact of emerging technologies.

Fund II builds on the performance of Fund I, which achieved top-quartile status among early-stage funds since its launch in 2022. The earlier portfolio included 38 companies, with investments in organizations such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Function Health, and recorded multiple valuation increases across its holdings.

The firm also reports a continued emphasis on diversity within its investment strategy. In Fund I, 74% of portfolio companies included founding teams representing diverse race, gender, and sexual orientations. This approach is positioned as a contributor to both innovation and financial performance.

With Fund II, Wisdom Ventures aims to expand its role in what it describes as the “wellbeing economy,” supporting founders who prioritize human-centered design and emotional intelligence in AI development. The fund’s backers and advisory leadership reflect a convergence of technology expertise and healthcare-focused perspectives, shaping its investment direction in the evolving AI landscape.
