Even though the general awareness of telehealth solutions for ophthalmology might be still relatively low, eyecare seems to be one of the most natural fits for telehealth due to the ease of volume of information that can be gathered from non-invasive testing. Ophthalmology telemedicine services are now developing fast and they have proven to be useful in different situations: smartphone-based visual acuity testing for healthy patients, early detection of vision impairment (e.g age-related macular degeneration screening) and remote patient monitoring (e.g diabetic retinopathy, postoperative management, etc).
How can we ensure we deliver high-quality eye and vision care when using telehealth services? What is the problem these remote ophthalmologic solutions are addressing? What are the ophthalmic conditions that can benefit the most from telemedicine services? In this meeting we will deep dive into these questions and explore the current and future state of telehealth in the exciting new area of ophthalmology.
