Retail pharmacy is helping primary care get its groove back. The retail and digital pharmacy landscape has continued to adapt itself to meet consumer demands for more accessible and affordable healthcare services and what better way to do that than to bring primary care under its roof. Approximately two thirds of consumers are satisfied with their primary pharmacy and welcome the addition of expanded health services. Pharmacies offer care at a considerably lower cost compared to other care settings, potentially resulting in significant savings for payors and patients. However, pharmacists in the US are still limited in the services that they can provide patients, but this is slowly changing, despite some physician groups cautioning against. Primary care may just have found the one, and a one stop shop for patients.
