About this Session:

Improving care strategies and confronting rare diseases is at an inflection point with a wave of new therapeutics being developed. Time is of the essence to find patients who can participate in the development pipeline so these interventions can be deployed at scale to benefit those who need them.

According to the National Institutes of Health, an estimated 1 in 10 Americans are affected by rare diseases. Historically identifying patients eligible for care is a time-consuming, and mostly manual, process of pulling data from disparate sources, including structured and unstructured data. NLP and AI enabled technology is already playing a critical role in accelerating the time it takes to identify patients eligible for care.

IMO terminology’s vast footprint in electronic health records and the ability from that terminology to be highly specific unlocks cohorting strategies that are more accurate and efficient. Recently IMO has been applying this experience to NLP and AI data quality models and will share examples of how this has worked in the area of rare diseases.
