AI and Human-Centered Care: Reclaiming Time for Patient Connections

About this Session:

Technological advancements have given rise to innovative care delivery models and unprecedented access to real-time health information for patients. However, for many, the healthcare experience hasn’t actually improved. In fact, in many ways, it has become worse for the clinicians. Clinicians are dealing with unprecedented burnout, contributing to a nationwide shortage that is expected to reach between 38,000-124,000 physicians in the next decade. Physician burnout is largely attributed to EHRs and associated administrative burdens that take physicians away from doing what they got into medicine for, connecting with and caring for patients. AI has significant potential to alleviate physician burnout and curb shortages. However, it is not a magic bullet. Hear from One Medical and AWS about the importance of working with physicians on new technologies that are easy to use and thoughtfully integrated into their workflows, rather than adding another layer of technology for technology’s sake.
