Generative AI facilitates natural language processing, enabling more effective patient communication and decision support. The synergy between medical algorithms and AI not only improves clinical outcomes but also accelerates the development of healthcare technologies, paving the way for more efficient, accurate, and patient-centered care in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. In the first part of her talk, Dr. Sharma will cover how medical algorithms combine different sources of data to enrich patient results and clinical outcomes. Today, there are significant challenges in the integration of algorithms into clinical practices. This is due to either low standardization, integration in the current workflow and/or IT system, the quality of the algorithm and inclusion within the guidelines. In the second part of her talk, Dr. Sharma will explore how generative AI and large language models (LLMs) can help streamline clinical workflows and improve the efficiency of care teams. In complex fields like oncology, physicians can spend hours synthesizing fragmented and unstructured clinical data to form a comprehensive view of the patient to inform care decisions. Automating this process with GenAI can help ease this burden, allowing clinicians to focus more on patient care instead of administrative tasks. At the same time, it ensures care decisions are made based on a consistent and complete clinical picture of the patient, enabling more informed and confident decision-making.
