Medicare Advantage Middle Ground: Innovation Meets Accountability

About this Session:

Medicare Advantage reform seems to be a topic in D.C. no matter who sits in the Oval Office. Republicans traditionally favor market-based solutions and private sector innovation, while Democrats focus on program integrity and protecting Medicare's fiscal health. Thankfully, both sides recognize that MA serves millions of beneficiaries who've chosen these plans over traditional Medicare. The real challenge isn't about heroes and villains, it's about finding the sweet spot between encouraging innovation and maintaining accountability in a program that's grown from a small experiment to covering nearly half of all Medicare beneficiaries. Whether through enhanced oversight, refined payment methodologies, or new compliance frameworks, the goal remains the same: ensuring MA delivers on its promise of better care at lower cost while maintaining the program's long-term sustainability. But how do we get there and what needs to change in the process?
