Sounding the Alarm on our Healthcare Workforce and Access Crisis

About this Session:

The leaders of America's most influential medical organizations are here to deliver some uncomfortable truths about what's really happening on the front lines of patient care. The AMA, ANA and ADA represent millions of healthcare professionals who are burning out, leaving the field, or simply choosing not to enter it in the first place, threatening the foundation of healthcare delivery. From physician reimbursement rates that haven't kept pace with the cost of medical school debt, to nursing shortages so severe that hospitals are rationing care, to dental access gaps that leave entire communities without basic oral health services, the workforce challenges facing healthcare are systemic and interconnected. There are persistent barriers to patient access, longer wait times for care, and healthcare professionals who are not only stretched thin by workload demands, but also increasingly frustrated by constant political shifts. The fundamental flaws in how we train, pay, and support healthcare workers are due for a reexamination. These organizations are actively working to fix what's broken and reimagine care delivery that is preventive, integrated and accessible to all.
