The silent majority: Bringing nursing to the fore

About this Session:

There are 27 million nurses globally, making up almost 50% of the health workforce.\r\nTo put that in perspective - if every working age person in Spain decided to switch careers to nursing, they would still fall slightly shy of the global nursing workforce number. Every single person. From Santander to Seville, Barcelona to Bilbao. All nurses. Still about 250,000 nurses short.\r\nAnd despite this, the profession is wildly underrepresented in healthcare discussions. From decision making to funding, leadership to policy. The sector that statistically spends the most time in contact with patients, is able to exert the least influence in decision making.\r\nIs it systemic? Habit? Ignorance? Hierarchy? What needs to change to bring more nurse input to the table? To every table?
