WFH Health through Tech

About this Session:

In response to the public health emergency, CMS created the Acute Hospital Care at Home (AHCaH) program in late 2020, which replaced certain Medicare critical nursing and safety standards with rapid emergency response and paramedic daily check-ins. Since initiation, 144 systems comprising 260 hospitals in 37 states have joined the program, which has recently been extended through December 2024. Hospital at Home (H@H) relies heavily on telemedicine, remote patient monitoring, wearable sensors, ambient monitoring tools, and software that uses algorithms and analytics to deliver clinical insights. Results are remarkable with a 38% reduction in costs, 70% reduction in readmissions, and 20% reduction in mortality rates. So, what are the challenges in setting up traditional homes with medical grade technology, addressing privacy, and equity? Join us as we investigate the opportunities and barriers to operating a successful H@H program.
