Cybersecurity as a Component of Multidimensional Vulnerability

About this Session:

Healthcare, like other sectors of society, is facing escalating challenges from multiple sources that create concurrent vulnerabilities. HDOs must cope with simultaneous chronic and acute challenges that can threaten patient and staff safety, compromise operations, and cascade into healthcare and other systems on a local, regional and, potentially, national level. Clinical and operations staff and incident response teams deal with these challenges on a daily and hourly basis. Senior management and governance engage in strategic planning to address and mitigate these vulnerabilities and opportunities. Solutions range from low cost, high impact interventions to fundamental changes in business plans and health care policy. The speaker will address these issues from his experience as a physician, medical group leader, healthcare executive, academic and policy expert and, most recently, Senior Advisor to the Department of Homeland Security, working closely with other federal and local agencies as well as the private sector. Speaker: L. Reuven Pasternak, MD, Senior Advisor @ Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), National Risk Management Center (NRMC)
