Approximately 30% of the world's data volume is generated by the healthcare industry with much of that being churned out by the patient themself. Patient-generated data has emerged as a transformative predictor of health outcomes, but the intricacies of harnessing, utilizing, and ensuring the HIPAA compliance of this ever-expanding resource are becoming more entangled. Health orgs are setting their sights on creating a centralized data strategy capable of efficiently housing and disseminating this wealth of information stemming from wearables and mobile apps to patient-reported outcomes. The deep, diverse data coming from patient-generated sources offers the most a holistic view of our individual health journeys. If we are able to seamlessly integrate and analyze this information to empower clinicians, researchers, and healthcare providers in delivering more targeted and effective care, we can usher in a new era of precision healthcare. Oversharing is encouraged!
