Human performance company WHOOP has announced the addition of its Stress Monitoring feature and breathwork protocols. The Stress Monitor tracks daily stress levels, by measuring heart rate and heart rate variable (HRV) and provides users with stress management techniques through the WHOOP app.
Stress Monitor gives users a stress score between 0 and 3, by measuring HRV and comparing this to the users baseline over the last 14-days, as well as resting heart rate. As the stress score increases, users are notified and can manage stress through the app with breathwork protocols. Cyclic sighing exercises are used to help regulate a stressful physical or emotional response, while cyclic hyperventilation increases responsiveness and alertness. Stress Monitor also features a 12-hour stress graph to help identify patterns in stress levels.
“Stress Monitor is one of the most innovative features we’ve ever released,” said Will Ahmed, Founder and CEO of WHOOP. “Our WHOOP members are inherently motivated and ambitious. Stress is a normal part of their lives. This tool will help members understand and manage stress for the first time. In partnership with Dr. Andrew Huberman, we are also launching breathwork interventions to either decrease stress or increase alertness.”
