Allswell Raises $7M to Expand LGBTQ+ Mental Health Care

Allswell has raised $7 million in seed funding to expand its virtual behavioral health platform designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ community. The round was led by Rethink Impact, with participation from Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures and Hopelab Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $8.3 million. The investment will support clinical expansion, specialized provider training and the development of additional mental health services.

The company offers individual virtual therapy, group programs and trauma-informed behavioral healthcare. Patients are matched with therapists who either identify as LGBTQ+ or have been screened for their experience working with the community. Allswell currently provides treatment for depression and anxiety, alongside support for family relationships and social transition, and is developing a dedicated clinical program for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A central part of Allswell's model is making specialized mental healthcare accessible through insurance. Its services are covered by commercial health plans and Medicaid, helping reduce financial barriers for patients who may otherwise struggle to find appropriate care. The company emphasizes that culturally informed treatment and access to clinicians with relevant experience are important for building trust, improving engagement and supporting long-term outcomes.

The funding will also help Allswell expand its clinical training program and recruit additional providers. The company plans to introduce medication management services in 2027, allowing patients to receive both therapy and psychiatric medication support through a single platform rather than relying on external referrals. This expansion is part of Allswell's broader ambition to become a more comprehensive healthcare provider for LGBTQ+ patients.

Launched in spring 2025, Allswell currently operates in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia and delivers approximately 1,500 billable sessions per month. The company is addressing significant gaps in access to specialized mental healthcare, particularly among younger LGBTQ+ populations, where demand for mental health support often exceeds the availability of trained and affordable providers.
