Amazon Web Services (AWS) and 3M Health Information Systems (HIS) have announced a collaboration to use AWS machine learning and generative AI technology to advance automated medical note taking and virtual assistant solutions for doctors.
3M HIS will use AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Comprehend Medical and Amazon Transcribe Medical, to expedite, scale, and refine its AI-enabled clinical documentation solutions and speech recognition technology, aiming to reduce work burden for physicians. Leveraging the partnership with AWS, 3M HIS will build out its conversational AI platform, which supports cloud-based solutions like 3MTM M*Modal Fluency Direct for real-time speech recognition and 3MTM M*Modal Fluency Align for ambient clinical documentation.
This week, AWS has also announced a collaboration with imaging technology company Philips. Philips has entered into a partnership with AWS aiming to send its storage and sharing platform for imaging scans to the cloud and to bolster that platform with new AI-powered capabilities.
Amazon’s two newly found partnerships will allow the company to continue to strengthen its foothold in the world of medicine.
AWS is focused on providing the "building blocks" to enable its healthcare customers to develop the next generation of cloud-based solutions, Rowland Illing, M.D., chief medical officer and director of international public sector health at AWS.
