Cerebral Acquires Resilience Lab to Create Comprehensive Mental Health Delivery Platform

Cerebral, a virtual mental health provider, announced its acquisition of Resilience Lab, a behavioral health organization recognized for its clinical development platform and outcomes-focused care delivery. The acquisition establishes a comprehensive mental health delivery system designed to address two critical industry challenges: the lack of consistently reported clinical outcomes across the behavioral health spectrum and persistent clinical workforce shortages.

The combined entity will continue operating under the Cerebral brand and serves more than 100 million commercial insurance members. The organization aims to seamlessly integrate psychiatry and therapy services within a single digital pathway, departing from traditional models where patients must navigate separate providers for medication management and therapy.

Cerebral's integrated platform enables prescribers and therapists to function as a unified team, making collaborative care decisions through shared treatment plans and real-time communication between providers. This approach ensures patients receive appropriate care levels with medication adjustments coordinated as needed, eliminating the fragmentation typical in conventional mental health delivery.

A cornerstone of the acquisition is Resilience Lab's proprietary clinician development platform, which directly addresses the widespread challenges of clinician burnout and turnover in the behavioral health industry. The Resilience Institute has created an evidence-informed methodology for training and developing early-career therapists through intensive supervision, structured training protocols, and certification processes. This model simultaneously expands the available workforce while maintaining consistent, high-quality care delivery standards.

The training approach emphasizes forming strong therapeutic alliances with clients and incorporates real-time monitoring to personalize treatment plans. Cerebral plans to invest in scaling Resilience Lab's methodology, training infrastructure, and certification processes, with the objective of establishing the nation's premier clinician-centered provider network trusted by payers, primary care physicians, and hospital systems.

"Our clinician development model was developed by clinicians for clinicians, and is focused both on therapists and on prescribers," added Christine Carville, co-founder of Resilience Lab and Chief Clinical Officer at Cerebral. "By investing deeply in early-career therapists – through supervision, training, and measurement-informed care – we ensure higher quality, consistent outcomes. Clients get better care, and payors get a more reliable, scalable system that drives measurable improvement."
