Commure Raises $70M to Expand AI Healthcare Operations Platform

AI-enabled healthcare software company Commure has secured $70 million in new financing, increasing its total capital raised to $750 million and lifting its post-money valuation to $7 billion. The round was led by General Catalyst, with participation from Sequoia Capital, Morgan Stanley, and Kirkland & Ellis.

Commure and its subsidiary Athelas provide healthcare organizations with AI-powered administrative and clinical workflow technologies designed to reduce operational burden and improve efficiency across care delivery settings. The company’s platform includes revenue cycle management tools, ambient AI documentation, autonomous coding capabilities, clinical intelligence systems, and appointment scheduling support.

According to the company, the latest funding will support the continued scaling of its revenue cycle and practice management platform, expansion of its shared intelligence tools, and entry into additional international healthcare markets.

Commenting on the investment, Hemant Taneja, CEO of General Catalyst, said, “Healthcare is one of the largest sectors of economies worldwide and one of the most important to rebuild with AI.”

He added, “Commure is doing it not as a feature or co-pilot, but as a system of agents completing administrative and clinical work in fundamentally modern ways. This is a generational business with the opportunity to dramatically impact the cost of care.”

Commure has continued to expand its healthcare technology footprint through acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic financing initiatives. In 2024, the company acquired digital care navigation platform Memora Health and announced a $139 million agreement to acquire ambient AI medical documentation company Augmedix.

The company has also entered into partnerships with virtual care provider HealthTap and Israeli healthcare technology company QLog. The HealthTap collaboration combines Commure’s EHR integrations, AI tools, and care coordination capabilities with HealthTap’s clinician network and virtual care delivery services. The partnership with QLog focuses on integrating real-time location systems and Bluetooth Low Energy technologies into healthcare environments.

In 2023, Commure merged with Athelas in a transaction valued at $6 billion. The combined business expanded its capabilities across revenue cycle management, AI medical scribing, and workflow automation.

General Catalyst has also previously supported Commure through its Customer Value Fund model, which finances sales and marketing initiatives in exchange for a capped share of future customer-generated revenue rather than traditional equity dilution.
