Digital health tool with AI-coaching aids weight loss and health improvement: Welldoc data

Welldoc, a digital health leader specialising in chronic care, has shared data demonstrating the effectiveness of their digital health application combined with AI coaching in a virtual program for individuals with type 2 diabetes.

The data, presented at the 18th Annual Cardiometabolic Health Congress in Boston, revealed significant improvements in weight loss, positive trends in post-meal blood glucose, and systolic blood pressure. The real-world study, featuring the Welldoc App, which offers continuous AI-driven digital coaching, showed a notable reduction in the average weight from the baseline (227.8 to 211.8 pounds, p=0.007). Over 77% of participants achieved an average weight loss of 4.8% of their baseline body weight. These findings validate Welldoc's approach to next-generation digital health solutions.

Dr. Mansur Shomali, Chief Medical Officer of Welldoc, emphasised the need for a comprehensive solution for individuals with type 2 diabetes, a population at risk of cardiovascular disease. He highlighted the global shortage of healthcare professionals, making digital health a crucial tool to scale care, enhance efficiency for clinicians, and reduce healthcare costs. The research underscores the value of digital health tools with personalised AI-driven coaching, offering potential improvements in cardiometabolic outcomes for individuals with multiple chronic conditions.

Welldoc's comprehensive platform provides digital coaching for various chronic conditions and comorbidities, including type 1 and type 2 diabetes, heart failure, prediabetes, hypertension, and weight management, along with integrated mental well-being tools. The company's AI-driven approach to chronic care has resulted in 78 clinical publications, 42 patents, and 11 FDA 510(k) Clearances, garnering recognition for innovation, AI integration, and real-world healthcare models.
